The Activate Oakland Event Sponsorship Program was an initiative launched in 2023 to provide funding for events and activations that support Oakland’s commercial districts, small businesses, and arts and culture community. Visit Oakland partnered with the City of Oakland to support Awardees of the program that funded 106 activations in 21 commercial corridors with a total reported attendance over 63,000.

Visit Oakland was selected as Grant Administrator of the Activate Oakland Event Sponsorship Program by the City of Oakland. Our extensive outreach campaign to potential program applicants, particularly community members who have previously been ineligible for city event and cultural funding, resulted in a record number of proposals.

We provided critical technical support and marketing assistance to Activate Oakland Awardees, many who were small businesses and nonprofit organizations in high priority districts. Visit Oakland was thrilled to administer and promote a program that created more of what makes the Town such a vibrant place to be!
